A unique, national non-profit program committed to helping women manage the appearance related effects of cancer and its treatment. By taking control of how they look, using cosmetics and hair alternatives, women with cancer can strengthen the positive attitude that is so important in cancer treatment. Workshops available provided by volunteer cosmeticians and hair alternative specialists in a safe and supportive environment.
North East Regional Cancer Program
The North East Regional Cancer Program oversees the quality and delivery of cancer services for the residents of Algoma, Cochrane, Manitoulin-Sudbury, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Temiskaming, and the James Bay and Hudson Bay Coasts.
Canadian Cancer Society (CCS)
The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. The CCS offers information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; provides support for people living with cancer; and funds research on all types of cancer.
The National Cancer Institute of Canada (NCIC)
A joint initiative formed in 1947 between the federal health department and the Candian Cancer Society to bring together individuals and organized bodies for the purpose of reducing the morbidity and mortality from cancer.
Cancer Care Ontario
The provincial umbrella organization that steers and coordinates Ontario’s cancer services and prevention efforts to ensure the highest possible quality of care and to take efforts to reduce the incidence of cancer.
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF)
A national volunteer-based organization dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer, working collaboratively to fund, support and advocate for relevant, innovative research; meaningful education and awareness programs; early diagnosis and effective treatment; and a positive quality of life for those living with breast cancer.
Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN)
The CBCN is a survivor-directed, national network of organizations and individuals providing a link between all groups and individuals concerned about breast cancer, and represents the concerns of all Canadians affected by breast cancer and those at risk. There is a subsite which includes information specific to Ontario residents.
Canadian Breast Cancer Research Alliance
This is a unique alliance dedicated to a common vision that through research ways will be found to prevent breast cancer, survival will be improved and the quality of life of those affected by it will be enhanced.
The Breast Cancer Society of Canada (BCSC)
The BCSC is a national, volunteer-driven organization established to fund Canadian research into improving the detection, prevention and treatment of breast cancer, as well as to ultimately find a cure for this fearful disease. Volunteers and staff work within communities to raise awareness about breast cancer and the need for research funding into the disease.
